I love dialogue. I also love imagination. They say a picture is worth a thousand words and just as a photo can capture a moment in time, so can a snippet of conversation. A line taken out of context can stir the imagination and awaken all sorts of possibilities. It can also be pretty hilarious. Feel free to comment and to use your imagination as well…

I’m too old to be a lesbian! Thats really funny. The older I get the more I think it’s the only thing that makes sense. Although I am not one. But sometimes…

My 8-year-old son: I think I might be gay.
Me: Well, that’s just fine by me, honey.
Him: But I’m not sure. I’m not attracted to any boys yet.
Me: You’re probably not really attracted to any girls, either.
Him: That’s true.

Too many to list. I hear bits on pieces of lives on the train each day. I’ve stopped listening to my ipod because those short moments are some of the most unique and entertaining moments you could hope for.
Today’s favorite was someone grumbling, “somebody needs to buy me steak and eggs”

I would love to hear all of the interesting things people say on a train. That would have to be entertaining.

Love these snippets!
My mom produces odd conversational snippets constantly. A few examples:
“You haven’t lived ’til you’ve seen that toilet flush.”
“There’s something about ice. I just can’t remember what.”
“I gotta sit down. I’m 70! Who else do you know that’s 70 and still standing up?”
“I don’t understand how two little girls can have so much sex in their short little lives and I can’t get any” (The two little girls in question were technically adults. But just barely.)

Thanks for sharing! Those are hilarious! They definitely had me laughing out loud. I think my favorite is, “You haven’t lived until you see that toilet flush.”

Hi Jacqueline – Thanks for the messages! Your blog is ‘magic’! Through life, when we come across relatives and/or friends who pass away of illness in particular, it does cross your mind about what you would do if you knew you only had a short time to live? I have heard others, and myself, say, ‘I would do everything I ever wanted to but never had the time to do.’ It is more difficult to quantify just what that is! Most of my working life has been as a husband, father, teacher and Headteacher, with a bit of photography thrown in, and when I retired recently, my life to that point felt fully fulfilled and left me completely satisfied with my purpose and achievements. However, what about the rest of my life? Real time to travel and really ‘see’ the world; to develop my photography; play more guitar, or do something completely different? Who knows? Jacqueline, I find you and your blog inspiring and thought provoking! I will follow your posts with enjoyment and who knows, I might pick up some ideas!
Take care
John

Hi John! Thanks for visiting and commenting again. Of all the wonderful comments I’ve received, no one has ever said my blog is “magic.” That makes every part of the little girl inside me ecstatic!
I’m not sure why it’s so easy to belive in magic as a child, but it becomes increasingly difficult as an adult. Perhaps that’s why our culture loves movies such as Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter. At some level, I think we all want to believe that anything is possible. You’ve inspired me to write a post about this phenomenon, so stay tuned and thank you so much for taking the time to write such a lovely comment!

Hey, Jacqueline – Don’t know how I got my comment on your snippets page! I was doing it on the about page! Ah well, another ‘senior moment’!
Sorry!

Haha! No worries, John! This is a great “Snippet” too. If I were more WordPress savvy, I would know how to move your comment to the “About” page, but I don’t. If anyone else in the internet space knows how, let me know!
